Another brief from “Mr Piper and His Cubs”
In the late 30’s and early 40’s Piper was a master of public relations staging impossible long haul non stop flights and starting a program to give journalists free airplane lessons at the factory in Lock Haven Pennsylvania.
This prompted many individuals to approach Piper with an offer to give the company free PR in exchange for an aiplane. Very few succeded with this argment. Most were turned away and given the explanation that…. “Everybody remembers Paul Revere but nobody remembers his mount.”
That may have been a true statement in the 30’s and 40’s. Today however, with regards to the Cub, the only thing most people remember is the mount.
BTW, Paul Revere’s horse is believed to have been named “Brown Betty”.
